Hey there, this is my first post here
I recently moved to Bergen and it seems people really frown upon mj here. Maybe i haven't met the right people, and i'm sure there are tons of stoners around, but it seems to me that the general consensus is that mj is a "naughty" thing. I used to live in the US and everyone is pretty straight forward there. some people might feel weird about it but weed is definately a big part of the culture, at least to anyone younger than 50.
I'm trying to understand why is that since Norway seems like such a progressive country and people here drink more booze than water Seriously, my first big impression is how people usually drink to get super drunk, very few people just drink socially(sorry if i'm offending anyone, it's just my opinion and it migh change overtime).
Also it'd be good to meet some people that think like me, no one i've met so far has any good contacts or other friends that like to smoke

Congratulations on discovering norwegian drinking culture. What you describe is not a matter of opinion, it's more a statement of how things really are. Norway is not very progressive at all when it comes to intoxicants and drugs, it's alcohol all the way, and stupidly so. There are, however, folks like yourself that prefer cannabis, but they mostly keep a low profile as to avoid getting busted. Sorry 'bout that, I wish it was different myself. Things are looking up, though, as researchers and scientists are calling for a fresh debate on drug policy, which would was unheard just a few years ago. Don't count on any changes soon, though, you know how politicians like to procrastinate and avoid icky subjects like a failed drug policy.

If you're looking to score some smoke, there's some advice in this thread. You basically need to hook up with someone who smokes, and hope they have some decent smoke. Pot is not really that common unless you know someone who grows, so you're more likely to come by imported hash. Avoid buying hash on the street, it's most likely utter crap and not fit for human consumption. If you're familiar with the term "soapbar" then you know what I'm talking about. I agree that when you're paying that much for alcohol, social drinking is pointless. You might as well drink get f'd up...
It'sstupid to ask everyone i meet if they smoke. I'll try and get to meet people with the same interest as me, but it's hard to know if people smoke or not since they mostly keep that to themselves... Im sure i'l get to know some but itll take some time.
As for soap bar, yeah im aware of it. It's the only reason why i dont just go to nygards park and try to score some smoke there.

I can only hope i get to know people here that will be able to hook me up. I work nigh shift a few times a week and its really hard to sleep without the chron. If only i could go to a pharmacy and just pick some up. it'd be grat!
